They talk about layoffs
Everywhere ther is news about layoff. I strongly disagree with the companies’ policy. As per my understanding if company is doing bad what MBA ppl who have been hired for finance thing doing? Can’t they predict the condition of economy. In my company they said no layoff and then they did layoff all of sudden. What the heck is this? Those MBA guys are highly paid. They have idea abt every quarter. How can they promise abt no layoff. What happen to ther calculations? How come they deny to ther promises.
Their work is just to see the economy of company to calculate loss and profit. Why don’t they do their job properly and tell the clear picture @ the starting of quarter only. Can’t they just inform ppl that we doing bad and search for new option instead of giving shock on the day of layoff. I hate those guys who work on company’s goal and finance and better they keep themselves away from me.
We are aware that our unit is doing exceptionally gud and as we are having so many customers. Financially our unit can employ more ppl. Still we asked our management abt economy going down and its impact on us. They promised us abt no layoff. We joined a small company, worked ther as family members and we know that financially our company is doing gud. But the layoff is beyond my calculation. And nobody had dared to explain me this.
Life changes it meaning. Things have changed for me atleast. For me life was easy going. Everything I dreamed of, I got. I don’t need to fight back for nything. All of sudden things got changed. I am nowhere, I have no control, I am lost in this world. I use to think I matter for my company. I am smthing here..I have my name, my work. I represent myself. They need me. I use to think my company thinks about my happiness and my work satisfaction and my view, vision and so many things. They want my life better. All of sudden I got to know I’m actually nothing just a slave.. Even if I’m right @ my points I have no power to make changes or ask for change. It’s a big difference between a private company and government. I you are against any policy, govt. gives full rights to express and it doesn’t impact ur salary or job. Ur job is permanent so u can go ahead and think of doing things that are different. But in private company its just ur Boss for whom everybody work. Noone is ready to go against him/her. Ur salary, ur job, ur facilities all depends wat ur manager thinks for u. I hate this.
Why smtimes u have no power. Why u can’t choose wat u want nd how u want. Why u just can’t decide wat matters for u. Why can’t u control things. Why always sm1 else is deciding ur fate. Its our country, our place , our city, our company. But still someone else is rulling me. Bcoz if I waana survive with all the pleasure I have to keep going on this culture.

As in IT world what we typically dealing our life is with --Outsourcing . Almost 95% of indian service based IT companies fate depends upon outsourced business (A product based company might be an exception). And when comes the metaphor Outsourcing ,comes the material stuffs like Projects,Projects Estimaton ,Project Values,Project Margins and finally Project Revision.
Almost all of this stuffs goes hand in hand with Finance and economy and has a great impact on Market Situation .So what does the word Outsourcing means to us . If i am working in a company where 100% of the work depends on outsourced customers ... this means a huge job oppurtinity and guarantee (usually a project comes with a lifespan ) ..guarentee in the sense that i can work for the company so long the project is there . so many a time ppl build up their minds and started putting their effort estimation tactics .However the fact remains that we are middleman ...in the sense .. we are hired by a company to do work for some other company ..!! To maintain this balance indeed a tough task .
Anyways ,and one day we suddenly come to know the word --recession or layoff for that matter ..as you mentioned.. and that we are going to loose our job .The mere fact remains ..why cant we control this earlier ..when we know such situation going to arise ..!!
Just through a deeper meaning of Outsourcing --Many European and US companies see outsourcing as a method of decreasing cost and keep the availability and quality with less resources .But many a times the Focus in cost reduction is not enough . They outsourced RESPONSIBILITY.. AND when it comes to stake the responsibility ..these companies can do whatever is in their will.
So what we are currently facing is the same . Projects getting delayed ,Project margins getting collapsed .Project revision is not clear, which ultimately impacting the firms in india ...leaving a fear in the mind of employee and the bosses started talking about LAYOFFS.. giving whatsoever reasons .
But if you look at this situatin on a broader scale ... one can easily point out that The Market is the real Culprit .!! Dow Jones falls .. impacting the whole world economy ..(Australia is somehow safe ) .But can this be stopped at the first place ...The answer is Yes ...but the thing is it is really difficult to change the ppl perception to a certain matter ..where all alike minds thinks the same ..!!
This is the fate of current IT companies and it is going to be the same ...and Outsourcing is still going to be the tool to fight recession ...just the Bossess need to work upon IMPLEMENTATION .. METHODOLOGIES and this for sure in our hand ..!!
As of now .. just be happy and and try to be satisfied with what and whom you are working with ,as long as your conscience retaliates .Rest -- the world is a better place for ppl who believe in themselves .!!

If u dont understand what MBAs do, keep ur mouth shut.... u r fool.. dont make such comments about MBAs. We are the people who manages the company. offcorse we have to take certain hard actions but its a business and not Darmashala.....

Sorry dear...i am not against MBA ppl taking tough decision. My point is why d hell they said no layoffs for this quater. why d hell they really literally said that we all r safe atleast for this quater and then they did layoff (?????). They work on quaterly basis, they decide current quater goals and all and when their calculation failed they just blamed economy. Can't they atleast predict the situation. But they wont becoz they waana save their ass by demonstrating that company doing gr8 and we r rich enough to have these ppl working. And when things came to reality they said layoff.

I agree with u nikhil...if someone dosnt understand wat MBAs ppl do then better to keep mouth shut. and also i fully agree company is not dharmshala ..u have to competive enough to remain in race..

MBAs haaaa. wat do they do? forget predictions. forget technology. can they atleast do what they are meant to do? well u people do study subjects of financial accounting and market dynamics for 2 years and still don't understand it. U need a technologist to survive. without techies no MBA's can survive in IT industry atleast. dont tell me that the reverse holds good. most of the techies can sell what they do.
